Panaji: The Goa Police’s Crime Branch claims to have busted a drug trafficking racket by seizing 4.325 kg Cocaine valued at Rs 43.20 crore. Authorities claim that this is the biggest drug haul ever in the state.
The Cocaine, apparently smuggled from outside the country, was found hidden inside chocolate and wafer wrappers and coffee pouches. Three persons have been arrested. The prime accused is a native of Kolkata, West Bengal.
“A raid was conducted near Chicolna bus stand, Mormugao, Goa, during which Nibu Vincent alias Wilson (45) was found in the possession of 4.325 kg white powder that was tested and found to be Cocaine. The value of this Cocaine is Rs 43.20 crore. Vincent was staying at Sea View Apartment, C Block, Near Sanjeevni Hospital, Baina, Vasco Da Gama, Goa. He is a native of 23A, Jaigir Ghat Road, Thakurpukur, Kolkata-63, West Bengal. The names of the other accused were revealed by him,” a senior police official said.
The others arrested in this case after technical surveillance are Reshma and her husband Manguesh Wadekar, residents of 362, Jetty, Harbour Road, Sada, Mormugao, South Goa. They were arrested on Tuesday afternoon from Vasco Da Gama. Reshma was allegedly trying to peddle the Cocaine in Goa.
“The Goa Police has launched a major crackdown against drugs. In 2025 alone, the Crime Branch Police Station at Ribandar, Goa, has arrested nine people in eight cases. The total amount of drugs seized is 19.2368 kg and its value is Rs 55,27,64,000. Appropriate action is being taken against the accused under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” the official added.
