Male Nilgiri Langur Dies In Odisha Zoo
Bhubaneswar: A couple of days after the death of India’s only orangutan, Nandankanan Zoological Park here lost another inmate, a male Nilgiri langur, on Friday.
According to the zoo sources, the 17-year-old langur was suffering from diarrhoea and fever and immediately shifted to an isolation ward of the zoo hospital for treatment. It showed improvement on May 19. The treatment was carried out in consultation with Centre for Wildlife Health. The health committee examined the langur again on May 28.
However, it breathed its last this morning. While the death is being attributed to possible nerve disorder, the exact cause of death can be ascertained after the postmortem, the sources added.
