Bhubaneswar: A man has been arrested for allegedly bludgeoning his brother to death at Nuasahi of Nayapalli in the Odisha capital, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh informed on Tuesday.
According to sources, the accused, identified as Biswa Mohan Senapati, allegedly thrashed his brother, Raj Mohan Senapati, with a wooden plank for neglecting studies, leading to his death.
Biswa, an MBA degree holder, was preparing for recruitment examinations and had recently cleared the preliminary round of a test conducted by the Railways. While he was staying in Nuasahi, Raja was pursuing BEd in the city and living with his friends in a mess at Baramunda.
Police sources said Biswa Mohan had called him to his place on Monday after getting to know that he was not paying attention to his studies. He allegedly slapped and beat him up causing injuries. Biswa then called his roommates and asked them to take Raj Mohan to their mess. He, however, started vomiting at night and was later rushed to the Capital hospital as his condition deteriorated but he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment due to internal bleeding.
Police, which seized the body and sent it for postmortem, found injury marks on the victim. “The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered under Section 302 of IPC,” said Nayapalli inspector-in-charge Biswaranjan Sahoo.
The duo are native of Itamati area of Nayagarh district. Their father is an ME Schoolteacher, who had informed Biswa about his brother’s marauding ways. He used to bunk classes and had even started stealing money from his father’s ATM.
