Bhubaneswar: A man was arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Monday for allegedly threatening to kill a woman in Jharpada area of Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the police also seized a pistol and five live cartridges from the accused, identified as Ramesh Behera alias Babali (43) of Jharpada area of the city.
He was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged at Laxmisagar police station on Friday by the woman, Priyanka Behera (20) of Dolamandap Sahi of Jharpada area.
The accused was booked under sections 126(2), 296, 115(2), 109, 3(5), 351(2), 351(3) of BNS read with section 25, 27 of Arms Act and forwarded to court.
As per sources, Priyanka and Ramesh are relatives and neighbours. The two reportedly had some conflict over building of their houses. The accused allegedly abused Priyanka and her family members under the influence of liquor on Thursday evening and a heated argument erupted between the two families.
In a fit of rage, Ramesh suddenly took out a gun and threatened Priyanka and her family members to kill them. He also reportedly assaulted Priyanka’s grandfather.
Sources said Ramesh has criminal antecedents and two cases pending against his name at Laxmisagar police station.
