Kolkata: A man was arrested at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata on Saturday for allegedly molesting a woman co-passenger onboard a Hanoi-Kolkata flight, the police said.
The woman complained that the man, seated next to her, kept touching her inappropriately. This happened on an IndiGo flight, as reported by News18.
The woman raised an alarm as the flight was preparing to land in Kolkata. Cabin crew immediately moved the passenger to another seat to ensure her safety. After the flight landed, the crew handed over the accused to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The man was later arrested by officials of the NSCBI police station, based on a formal complaint by the woman passenger.
The accused was identified as Md Abdur Rahman of Bihar. A case has been registered against him, and he was formally arrested on charges related to molestation. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
“A case of abuse and molestation has been filed against the arrested person. He will be produced before the Barrackpore court. Investigation is on,” a senior official of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate said.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata-Shillong flight that got stranded at the airport on Saturday morning due to a bomb scare was cleared for take-off after a thorough search. No incriminating material was found on board.
The flight that was to take off at 9.15 am, finally took off at 1.33 pm, airport officials said.
