Man Beats Wife To Death Over ‘Dowry’ In Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband at Mahuldiha village under Kaptipada police limits in Mayurbhanj district late on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Subhadra Mukherjee (20), wife of Biswajit Mukherjee.

Police have arrested Biswajit on the basis of a complaint lodged by Subhadra’s family, who alleged that she was murdered for dowry.

According to sources, Subhadra had a heated argument with her husband last night over some issue. In a fit of rage, Biswajit attacked her wife with a shock absorber of an auto rickshaw. She died on the spot.

The couple has a seven-year-old daughter.

However, locals said that Biswajit was suffering from some kind of abnormality for which he was taking medicines since long.

A week back, he had climbed up a 30-feet tree and was later rescued by a team of fire personnel.
