Bhubaneswar: A minor parking disagreement in the bustling Unit-3 area in Bhubaneswar escalated into a savage assault late Monday evening, leaving one man seriously injured.
The incident occurred behind Kesari Talkies at Kharvela Nagar, a no-parking zone, when Bikas Das reportedly asked a driver not to park his vehicle due to limited space in front of an office. What began as a heated verbal exchange quickly turned violent when the driver allegedly called in a group of 7-8 associates, who attacked Bikas and another individual, Saurashtra Das.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the attackers repeatedly striking the victims even as some bystanders tried to intervene. Bikas sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. “A person was parking his car in front of our office. I asked him to park elsewhere due to the limited space available. He got upset and 7-8 men brutally attacked me,” he said, recounting the horrific incident.
A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread public outrage over law and order in the city.
Meanwhile, Kharavela Nagar police have launched an investigation on the basis of a complaint lodged by Bikash and examining the viral video to identify the attackers. Officials assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
