Man Builds Rs 7-Crore Temple To Fulfil Wife’s Wish In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: A man has constructed a temple with a cost of Rs 8 crore to fulfil the wish of his wife in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

Khetrabasi Lenka started the construction of a small temple of Maa Santoshi as per the wish his wife Baijayanti Lenka in 2008. He had fixed a budget of Rs 30 lakh for the temple in Baijayanti’s parental village Chikkana under Binjharpur block of Jajpur and aimed at completing it in 5 years.

But the construction work could not move as per the pace he expected. Though various obstacles coming on the way, Biajayanti insisted on completing it by any means. Meanwhile, the budget continued to go up. Finally, the temple with a height of 64 feet was completed and would be consecrated on February 28.

Speaking to the media, Baijayanti said, “The temple is meant for the people of my village. We have constructed it for them to offer puja to Maa Santoshi. I am obliged to them for their help and cooperation in fulfilling my wish.”

On the arrangements and facilities at the temple, she said, “Now the construction of only the main temple has been completed after 15 years. Basic facilities like space for sale of flowers and puja materials have been made. After its consecration, we will gradually construct other facilities for the devotees.”
