Rayagada: A man and his two-year-old daughter were killed after being struck by lightning at Karadipanga village under Chandrapur block in Rayagada district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Daman Gagaranga (35) and his daughter Jyotsna. The incident took place while they were returning home from paddy field, a villager said.
According to sources, as many as 400 deaths due to lightning strikes are reported from different parts of the state every year. The figure is highest among other states in the country.
