Berhampur: A tehsildar in Ganjam district on Friday imposed a fine on a person for arranging a community feast in violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
According to official sources, S Bijay Dora of Kusapada village under Digapahandi block in the district had organised the feast on the occasion of ‘Suddhikriya’ (rituals after death of a person) of his mother in the village flouting the COVID-19 without informing the authorities.
On being informed, Digapahandi Tehsildar Aditya Kumar Swain directed the Tehsil Enforcement Squad to take necessary action. The squad raided the house and stopped the feast.
The squad members also told the villagers who had attended the feast about their chances of contamination of coronavirus and go for the test.
