Sambalpur: A man had to cough up Rs 43,000 fine for allowing his minor son ride a scooter in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.
According to sources, son of Bijay Singh of Daldalipada under Khetrajpur police limits was stopped by traffic cops near Laxmi Talkies Chhak for riding the two-wheeler without helmet.
He also failed to produce a driving licence (DL). The vehicle also lacked Pollution Under Control certificate (PUCC) and insurance.
Singh was slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 for allowing a minor to ride the scooter, Rs 5,000 (no DL), Rs 10,000 (lack of PUCC), Rs 1,000 ( no helmet) and Rs 2,000 (no insurance).
Sunday saw Odisha strictly enforcing the new Motor Vehicle Act after a six-month breather.
