Bhubaneswar: A Special POSCO court in Surat on Friday sentenced a man from Odisha to death for rape and murder of his daughter.

According to the case records, Surat police had registered a case against Tukuna Das for the murder of his 14-year-old daughter on June 29, 2017.
After the postmortem report revealed that the deceased at the time of death was six-month pregnant, police conducted the DNA test of the foetus and the accused. The test confirmed matching of the DNA and further police investigation revealed that the accused had frequent sex with his daughter.
Fearing that the matter would come to light, he strangulated his daughter to death.
