Man Hacked To Death For Rs 2000 In Odisha Village After Seeking Return Of Lent Money

Sundargarh: In a gruesome incident, a young man was allegedly hacked to death for Rs 2,000 at a village in Talsara area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Wednesday.

As per preliminary reports, the shocking incident took place at Lamti village under the jurisdiction of Talsara police station of the district.

The deceased, identified as Salindra Majhi (25) of Barahadema village, had lent Rs 2,000 to Durjana Majhi to help him to go to work in Tamil Nadu. Though a long time had passed since then, Durjana neither went to Tamil Nadu nor returned the money to Salindra.

Sources said Salindra met Durjana when the former went to his in-laws’ place in Lamati and asked him to repay the money lent to him. Durjana refused to return the money and attacked Rakendra with an axe injuring him grievously.

While two youths were taking a critically injured Rakendra to the hospital on a motorbike, they met with an accident on the way. Salindra reportedly fell from the bike and died on the spot.

The accused reportedly fled after committing the crime, while a team of police personnel visited the site after being informed about the incident. Investigation is in progress.
