Man In Odisha’s Berhampur Orders Shirt Online, Loses Rs 1.27 Lakh To Fraudsters

Berhampur: A man was cheated of Rs 1.27 lakh by cyber fraudsters after he bought a shirt online in Odisha’s Berhampur.

Lakhmi Narayan Panda, a resident of Khoda Singh Ramkrushna Nagar in Berhampur, had ordered the shirt last month from an e-commerce site called formalbutton.com.

On May 18, his order came by BlueDart. But it was not the shirt he had ordered.

Panda, who works in a bank, called the customer care number to return the order. On the first day, no one answered his call. Next day, he got a call from the number. The person on the other side asked him to download AnyDesk app.

Once Panda downloaded the app, the fraudster managed to siphon off Rs 1.27 lakh from his bank account.

The fraud came to light after a few days when Panda realised that his bank account had been emptied.

According to Panda, he had got the customer care number from Google.
