Patna: Crime against women remains rampant in our country.
But at times it happens the other way too.
A 25-year-old man in Bihar’s Begusarai was allegedly killed by his in-laws in Fafaut village on Sunday night after he objected to his wife’s habit of making Instagram reels on viral songs, police said.
Maheshwar Kumar Rai, the victim, and Rani Kumari were married for six years, and the couple has a five-year-old son.
The 25-year-old Maheshwar, who was working in Kolkata as a labourer, returned home recently. He didn’t like his wife’s obsession with making reels.
The woman, who posted over 500 reels, has around 9,500 followers on Instagram.
The man, who went to his in-laws’ house late at night, brought up the matter with his wife and the two had an argument.
The victim’s father alleged that Maheshwar was hanged to death. When his family members reached the place after failing to contact his mobile number, family members of the woman were missing.
The man’s family alleged that they saw four people trying to dispose of the body on the pretext of taking it to a hospital.
Once police arrived at the spot, the body was sent for post-mortem. An investigation is underway.
