Rayagada: Days after a man was allegedly killed on the suspicion of practising sorcery at a village in Odisha’s Rayagada district, police arrested one person in connection with the murder from Puri on Saturday.
Gopal Dora, an elderly man of Doraguda village under Kashipur block of Rayagada, was reported missing by his family on January 9.
Probe by the police was underway to trace the missing man. However, police recovered his body from a nullah near the village on Thursday. His hands and legs were found tied, and the post-mortem examination confirmed that he was murdered.
During interrogation of suspects, police found that Gopal Dora was allegedly killed over suspicion of practising sorcery.
While police had detained five persons for questioning in connection with the case, one accused, identified as Ishwar Dora, was arrested from Puri when he was allegedly attempting to flee. Further investigation is ongoing.
