Bhubaneswar: In another case of murder in Bhubaneswar, a man allegedly killed his brother-in-law by repeatedly hitting him with a stone in VSS Nagar area of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
After committing the crime, accused Suresh Singh, who hails from Nepal, allegedly dumped the victim’s body on railway tracks in an attempt to make it appear as a case of accident.
According to preliminary information, Suresh had married a woman from Ganjam district and was living in the Tarini Basti area of VSS Nagar under Saheed Nagar police station limits.
Sources said Suresh recently started suspecting his wife of having an extramarital relationship and was reportedly assaulting her. Following the alleged domestic violence, his wife left for her parental home.
Her brother, identified as Pathani Sahu, who was staying in VSS Nagar, reportedly tried to counsel Suresh and resolve the dispute between the couple.
However, Suresh allegedly grew suspicious of Pathani and attacked him with a stone, killing him. He then reportedly placed the body on the railway tracks to give it the colour of an accident.
The Saheed Nagar police have taken Suresh into custody and are interrogating him. Further investigation is underway.
