Deogarh: A man, in an inebriated condition, allegedly killed his two-year-old daughter in Odisha’s Deogarh district on Monday.
According to sources, Biju Kisan of Lambadura village under Laimura police station in the district used to come home drunk almost everyday and have quarrel with his wife Shakuntala. Exasperated with her husband’s behaviour and torture, Shakuntala had gone to stay with her parents in Kulakuta village under Bonia police limits a month back.
A few days back, Kisan went to Kulakuta and managed to convince Shakuntala’s parents that he would desist from liquor and not torture her. He brought his wife and daughter back to his house.
While three of them were staying peacefully for some time, Kisan again came home consuming liquor on Saturday. Following a fight with him, Shakuntala went back to Kulakuta without her daughter.
On Sunday night, in the absence of his wife, Kisan came home drunk and in the wee hours of Monday, hit his daughter’s head on the floor, leading to her death on the spot, the sources said.
On being informed, police went to Kisan’s house and sent the child’s body for post-mortem. They also detained Kisan and registered a case.
