Man Found Moving Suspiciously Inside Bhubaneswar Airport, Detained
Bhubaneswar: The CISF personnel on Tuesday nabbed a man near the runway of the Biju Patnaik International Airport and handed him over to the Airfield Police.
Reports said Krishna Rout (20), a diploma engineering student and native of Dumduma area under Khandagiri police limits, entered the airport premises by jumping the boundary wall from Khandagiri side. However, he was spotted by the CISF personnel who immediately caught hold of him.
Police said the detainee is a mentally-challenged patient. He was recently discharged from a hospital. His family members have been informed.
Talking to media persons, Satyapriya Rout, father of the detained youth, said he had made efforts to cure his son from the mental illness but to no avail.
“I had consulted the doctors at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and a number of doctors of the private hospitals. Though my son recovered from the illness, the symptom relapsed after a gap of three months. There were occasions when he had left his house and gone to other states without our knowledge. He had a face-off with the Khandagiri police recently,” Rout said.
The incident has raised serious doubts over the security arrangements inside the airport premises despite installation of CCTV cameras at all sensitive locations.
Meanwhile, director of Biju Patnaik International Airport Suresh Chandra Hota has served a show-cause notice to the CISF authorities following the incident.
“The CISF authorities have been asked to submit a report on how the incident took place when the Central forces were posted at the watch posts and towers on all sides of the airport,” he told the media.
