Man Posing As Cop To Extort Money Arrested In Odisha

Ganjam: Police arrested a man posing as a policeman in Khallikote in Ganjam district on Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar Gouda of Chikili village in Ganjam.

Police said Gouda allegedly posed as “Inspector In Charge Jagannath Mallick of Khallikote police station” to extort money from one Arjun Sethi of Bharasa village.

After details of a phone call, in which he allegedly threatened to kidnap Sethi and implicate him in a false case if he did not pay up, went viral, police started a probe and arrested Gouda.

Sethi had lodged a complaint at Khallikote police station and submitted the recordings of the call.
