Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Killing Fiance In Odisha’s Nuapada
Nuapada: A man was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life by a court for murdering his fiancé at a village in Odisha’s Nuapada district seven years ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge, Nuapada, Minakshi Das convicted Drona Paharia (24) and awarded life term for killing his fiancé Bholamani Paharis in his house on August 29, 2017.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict and in case of non-payment of the fine amount, he would have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for six months more.
As per the case record, Drona had murdered Bholamani when she was on a visit to his house during Nuakhai festival. The murder took place at village Baglore under the jurisdiction of Boden police station in the district.
After getting information about the incident, family members of the girl lodged a complaint with the police and the accused was arrested on August 30, 2017.
The court pronounced the verdict on April 29 on the basis of statements given by 12 witnesses and other evidence produced by the prosecution.
