Man & Son Arrested For Job Fraud In Odisha’s Balangir
Balangir: Police have arrested a man and his son for allegedly duping more than 20 youths on the pretext of engaging them in jobs in Odisha’s Balangir district.
According to sources, the two fraudsters, identified as Benudhar Jagat and his son Hemant Jagat, were running a restaurant in Patnagarh of the district. Later, they opened an office at Ganganagar in the town to provide the job of security guard.
The father-son duo collected Rs 30,000 to 40,000 from each of 24 youths on the assurance of providing them jobs. The unemployed youths suspected the duo as appointment letter was not issued to any of them for a long time after paying the money. When the youths asked both Benudhar and his son, the latter used to evade them on some pretext or other.
Suspecting foul play, Ghanashyam Sahu, an employee of the office who was also victim of the fraud, filed a complaint at Patnagarh police station. After registering a case, the police started investigation and arrested both father and son, said Patnagarh SDPO Jyotirmaya Bhukta.
He further said Benudhar and his son had made an agreement to run the restaurant with owner Suresh Meher. But they had given fake names. The police have also seized some document from the security service office of the arrested duo, he added.
