Balasore: In another case of snake bite during rescue operation, a man was hospitalised in a critical condition after being bitten by a cobra in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.
As per reports, Bikram Jena, a village level worker (VLW), spotted an Indian Cobra in his quarters at Jaleswar in the district in the morning.
On being informed, snake rescuer Shankar Chand went to Jena’s house to rescue the venomous snake. He caught hold of the Cobra with his sticks. But, while he was putting it into a bag, the snake bit him.
Chand was rushed to a local private hospital in a critical condition. Later, he was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) as his condition deteriorated.
It may be noted that a man died after being bitten by a snake after he rescued it in Nirakarpur of Khurda district on October 3. He had rescued the venomous snake from a house in Kashipur.
