Bhubaneswar: In a disturbing and shocking incident, a video of a young man threatening his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint with film-style dialogues in Bhubaneswar has gone viral on social media, raising concerns over public safety.
The video shows the man brandishing a firearm, and terrorising the woman during a confrontation inside a vehicle at a public place. While the main in the video says he was carrying a gun, it is not certain whether it was a real firearm.
As per preliminary information, the woman seen in the video is stated to be a bar dancer hailing from Kolkata. She is reportedly working at a bar in Bhubaneswar. The man holding the gun is said to be from Nimapada area in Puri district.
The incident reportedly took place near a parking area outside the woman’s rented accommodation.
Sources said the confrontation erupted after the man spotted the woman with another friend. What is particularly alarming is that the accused was allegedly moving around openly with a firearm and threatening the woman in a public place.
In the video, the man is heard saying, “You betrayed me, but don’t ditch my brother,” while pointing a gun at the woman’s head. The man was heard saying that if he can carry a gun he would not hesitate to open fire if needed.
The footage has sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding immediate steps to identify the apprehend the accused. The incident has also once again put law enforcement under scanner.
