Manager Recalls ‘Dying Inside’ As Priyanka Chopra Reintroduced Herself From Scratch In Hollywood

Mumbai: Global icon Priyanka Chopra’s journey from Bollywood to Hollywood is nothing short of a fairytale. However, not many are aware of the hardships the actress had to face to achieve global fame.

Manager Anjula Acharia, who witnessed the actress’ silent struggles, recalls ‘dying inside’ seeing Priyanka reintroducing herself from scratch to assistants in Hollywood.

Anjula recalled the actress’ early struggles in Hollywood during a conversation on The Ok Sweetie Show.

“I remember dying inside. Imagine you are with the Beyoncé of a country and nobody else knows she is the Beyoncé—just you. And you’re walking into a magazine she’s already been on the cover of many times, and she’s introducing herself, saying, ‘You don’t know who I am, but I am Priyanka Chopra.’ I am meeting the assistant of the assistant in a cafeteria with her. I was suffering heartbreak for her. But she was so fabulous — she had no ego,” Anjula shared.

Praising Priyanka’s humility, the manager added, â€

œPriyanka has actually taught me a lot about humility. There have been many times when I’ve said, ‘We don’t need to do that,’ and she’s been like, ‘Yeah, we do.’ There have been very specific moments when I’ve felt, ‘We’re above that,’ and she’s said, ‘No, we are not.’”

Priyanka began her transition to Hollywood in 2015, after signing with an American talent agency and marking her international acting debut with the ABC television series ‘Quantico’.

The show was a turning point in Priyanka’s career, helping her earn global recognition.

The actress shifted to the US, where she married singer Nick Jonas.

Priyanka thereafter featured in Hollywood films including ‘Baywatch’, ‘The Matrix Resurrections’, ‘Heads of State’ and ‘The White Tiger’.

She also delivered an impressive performance in the 2022 spy thriller series ‘Citadel’, alongside Richard Madden.

She will next be seen in action-thriller ‘The Bluff’, alongside Karl Urban. Directed by Frank E. Flowers, the film also features Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley-Green and Temuera Morrison in key roles, and is slated to premiere on Prime Video on February 25.

Priyanka will also be making her comeback to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’, co-starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is currently under production, and is slated to be released on Sankranti 2027.
