Manas Sahoo’s Musical Film ‘Jharka Sepate Barsha’ Essays Patriotic Romanticism
Bhubaneswar: At a time when a number of music videos are being released stereotyping the content, Manas Sahoo’s musical film ‘Jharka Sepate Barsha’ stands out with its unique concept and directorial brilliance. Produced under the banner of Sanjeev Kumar Films, the soulful song rendered by Subhashree Tripathy has been composed by Nishikant Dalbehera and penned by Sarat Dash. The music video features Jitendra Bhanja and Tushmita Patel.
“It is a matured love story which depicts the longing of a poet and his wife in the backdrop of pre-independence. After listening tp the song, I wanted to showcase the plight of a poet who is being jailed for his writings during British rule and his wife’s longing to meet him. It was not easy to make this creative attempt. I am thankful to the producer who believed in my concept”, said director Manas Sahoo who is known for his film ‘Antarleena’, depicting the journey of a man from struggling with autism to becoming a writer.
“The challenge was creating the pre-independent era. The theme was patriotic romanticism, a new concept. The building, costume, jewellery and specially the lights were carefully selected to give the exact feeling. Though the budget had increased, but the creativity was also enhanced”, says the director. Sahoo was delighted to share that 20 NGOs in Bangalore have agreed to screen his film ‘Antarleena’ on the occasion of World Autism day, on Monday.
Sahoo has just finished another film named ‘Baby Blue’, based on Supreme Court’s decision on single parenting.
