Manipur Couple Assaulted In Delhi; ‘Thought We Will Die’
New Delhi: A group of eight-nine people assaulted two men and two women from Manipur on a street in south-east Delhi’s Sunlight Colony.
The incident, which took place on Thursday night, was recorded on a mobile phone from a balcony across the street.
A police officer at Sunlight Colony said that an FIR was filed against several unknown people.
As per the FIR, a copy of which was seen by NDTV, charges include sexual assault.
The complainant said after filing the FIR that faces of two of the accused are clearly visible in the CCTV footage available with police.
The mobile phone footage, which has gone viral, shows four people — a man, his wife, his sister and a family friend — being punched, kicked and dragged on a narrow lane by the assaulters.

“My wife, me and my sister were dropping a friend home after dinner at 11 pm when two men and a woman approached us, saying their mobile battery was dead, and they needed help to book a cab to Munirka,” said the man with a black eye and swollen cheeks.
“We agreed to help. While booking the cab, the man who asked for help started passing lewd comments against my wife and sister. When we objected to their behaviour, they became aggressive, called some eight-nine of their friends and started beating us,” the man added.
He claimed details given in the FIR have been corroborated with the mobile video and CCTV footage.
His wife alleged that the accused persons pulled her hair, kicked her on the ground and tried to drag her, reported NDTV.
“I thought I was going to die, everyone was going to die as they did not stop beating us, no one stopped them too,” the woman recalled, showing bruises on her knees.
“We were walking when they asked for help to book a cab, and this is what they have done to us,” she broke down outside the police station.
Police said in a statement that they took the injured man to hospital, where doctors treated him and found enough evidence indicating serious assault.
The police have launched an all-out effort to nab the accused persons, starting with the duo seen on CCTV footage.
