Manish Sisodia Had Direct Role In Delhi Liquor Scam: ED Tells Court
New Delhi: Manish Sisodia had a direct role in the Delhi liquor policy scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) told Rouse Avenue Court during the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader’s bail hearing on Friday.
The probe agency submitted that the policy was framed without paying heed to the views of expert committee on benefitting certain individuals. ED has claimed that the policy – which was subsequently scrapped — ensured select wholesalers would receive a profit margin of 12%, 6% more than what it should have been.
ED said it has proof that the decision was made at Sisodia’s behest.
The central agency added some clauses in the policy were diluted on Sisodia’s insistence just to “benefit a few private entities”, and that such tweaks led to cartelisation.
Despite some points in the policy not being discussed by Group of Ministers (GoM). It was approved and implemented, ED further said.
Special Judge MK Nagpal sent Sisodia to ED remand till March 17.
The former Delhi deputy CM, who was arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February, will remain in its custody till March 21.
