Maoists Issue ‘No Mobile Phones’ Diktat In Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Panic has gripped Arapadar village in Andrapalli panchayat in the cut-off area of Malkangiri district after Maoists warned villagers against using mobile phones.

The left wing ultras issued the warning in a written message on a roadside board at the village.

The message said that any villager found using a mobile phone will be awarded the death penalty by the Praja court. If any villager wants to use a mobile phone, he/she will have to take prior permission from the Maoists, the message added.

The Maoists have issued the diktat because they suspect that some of the villagers inform police about their movements over mobile phones, according to locals.
