Raipur: Maoists blasted an IED on an anti-landmine vehicle of the 212 CRPF Battalion’s patrolling team resulting in the death of nine jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Tuesday afternoon.
According to special director general of police (anti-Naxal operations) DM Awasthi, this happened when the team was moving from Kistaram to Palodi.
The injured have been airlifted to Raipur.
Home minister Rajnath Singh expressed his condolences to the families of the personnel who were killed and said that the incident is ‘deeply depressing’.

Assistant sub-inspector RKS Tomar, constable Manoranjan Lanka, constable Jitendra Singh, constable Shobhit Sharma, constable Ajay Kumar Yadav, constable Manoj Singh, constable Dharmendra Singh, constable Chandra HS and head constable Lakshman were killed in the attack.
