Ranchi: In another instance of Red attack, Maoists set a truck on fire. It was carrying pipes from Odisha to Jharkhand in Jharkhand’s Khuti district on Friday. The driver of the truck was burnt to death, informed the police.
The deceased was identified as Yoga Singh.
A Maoist 24-hour shutdown in Jharkhand on Friday against the Jharkhand Police operations impacted life in rural areas of the state.
Long-route buses were off the roads in Khuti, Lohardagga, Gumla and other districts even as bauxite transportation was affected in Lohardagga district.
In March, 2018, an armed group of Maoists had set at least three tractors and a JCB afire near Balimaha under Baliguda block in Kandhamal district.
Over 40 armed ultras barged into a contractor’s camp, thrashed the manager and then set the vehicles parked near it on fire.
The ultras left a poster before fleeing the area. In the poster, they warned the contractor not to go ahead with the construction work of a road connecting Balimaha and Gumudumaha, police sources said.
