Maoists Torch Road Construction Vehicles Near Odisha-Chhattisgarh Border
Malkangiri: A group of armed Maoists set afire ten vehicles engaged in
road construction near Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh bordering
Odisha’s Malkangiri disrict on Saturday.
The vehicles include seven tractors, a JCB and one dozer.
The red rebels stormed into the construction site, asked the workers
to leave the area at the earliest and set ablaze the vehicles.
The Maoists also warned the labourers of dire consequences, if they
resume road construction work.
“No labourer was harmed in the incident. However, combing operation
has been intensified in the area,” a police officer informed.
On January 27, a group of ultras had torched nine vehicles,
including four tippers, three JCBs, one bulldozer and a tractor
engaged in road construction work at Bhupathi Rao Peta village under
Bhadrachalam in Telengana state bordering Malkangiri district.
