Marginal Rise In COVID Cases In Odisha; 18% Infectees Below 18 Years
Bhubaneswar: A day after 73 students tested positive for COVID-19, Odisha witnessed a marginal rise in daily caseload on Wednesday with 288 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Among them, 53 are in the age group of 0-18 years, which is 18 per cent of the total cases against 33 per cent the previous day when the state had seen 212 new cases.
While 42 students of St Mary’s Girls High School in Sundargarh were placed under isolation after testing positive for COVID, VIMSAR-Burla saw 31 MBBS students getting infected on Tuesday.
According to the I & PR department, 166 of the new infections are from quarantine and 122 local contacts. Khurda reported the highest of 130 cases. Eight districts reported nil cases.

With these cases being detected from 57,546 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.50 per cent against 0.44 per cent the previous day.
While the affected tally has touched 10,37,001, Odisha now has 2,221 active cases.
