Mumbai: Govinda is set to make a special appearance on ‘Lock Upp 2’, where his wife Sunita Ahuja is a contestant.
In a newly-released promo, the actor leaves everyone stunned after walking onto the stage carrying a bullet, following Sunita’s playful remark that if she had been responsible for his earlier knee injury, she would have shot him in the chest instead.
On meeting hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, Govinda remarked, “Yeh voh Lock Upp hai jo dikhayi deta hai, jo nahi dikhaye dete voh kayi lock-ups hai, main vahan se aa raha hoon (This is the Lock Upp that everyone can see, but there are many other lock-ups that no one sees. I’ve come from those).”
When Farah spoke about Govinda’s shooting incident, the actor joked, “Arre, main leke aaya hoon jeb mein goli. Main bola seene mein maarna chah rahi thi, maar le ab (I’ve even brought a bullet in my pocket. She said she wanted to shoot me in the chest, so she can go ahead and do it now).”
In 2024, Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg in while cleaning his licensed revolver.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he remained under observation for a few days before recovering.
Later, actor Shilpa Shetty jokingly asked him if his wife Sunita had been the one who shot him.
During a conversation with Hindi Rush, Sunita joked, “Govinda ne aadhi baat boli thi. Maine Shilpa ko bola tha ki agar main goli maarti toh pair par na maarti, seene par maarti (Govinda told a half-baked story. I told Shilpa that if I had pulled the trigger, I would’ve shot him in the chest, not on his foot). Kaam karo toh poora karo, nahi toh mat karo (If you are doing something, do it well; otherwise don’t do it).”
The comments made heads turn because they came at a time when rumours of Govinda and Sunita’s divorce were making headlines.
Although the couple later clarified that they were still together, Sunita claimed that Govinda had cheated on her during their marriage. She also spoke about these allegations on ‘Lock Upp 2’.
“Pyaar mein toh aapko har cheez bardasht karna chahiye. Chi Chi (Govinda) ne life mein itne affairs kiye, chalo hero heroine mein toh hote hi hain (In love, you should be able to tolerate everything. Chi Chi had so many affairs in his life; well, heroes and heroines do have such things)…” Sunita said.
In a recent episode of Lock Upp 2, referring to one of Sunita’s earlier interviews, Shreya Kalra asked her if Govinda still cheats on her.
Sunita replied, “Hua toh abhi kya kar sakte hain… shuru se hi hua hain na lekin? Hero hain toh you can’t say anything (What can I do now since it happened from the start? He’s a hero, you can’t say anything).”
