Bhubaneswar: A married woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train near the Kargil slum in the city on Thursday morning.
The father of the deceased woman told the media that since his daughter was mentally challenged and had bouts of disorderly behaviour occasionally, her in-law family had sent her to his house.
“After my daughter recovered from the disorder due to treatment, her in-law members took her to their house. On Thursday, she again behaved abnormally and my son-in-law was bringing her to my house in a car from Patrapada,” the woman’s father said.
“As they arrived near the Kargil slum, my daughter suddenly opened the car’s door and jumped in front of a running train,” he said.
Following information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot and sent the body for post mortem.
