Deogarh: Luck ran out for a matric pass, who had a medical practice for the past four years after Odisha police arrested him for allegedly running a clinic Kadamdarh village in Odisha’s Deogarh district without the mandatory qualification.
He has been identified as Prashant Ray of Purbanoapara village in West Bengal’s Nadia district.
According to sources, a team of Deogarh Model Police received a tip-off about Ray’s illegal clinic and arrested him on Wednesday when he could not produce proper documents. The cops also seized medicines worth lakhs of rupees, a large number of contraceptives, and injections from the clinic.
During the investigation, it was learnt that he brought a fake ‘MBBS” certificate from an institution in Kolkata for Rs 1,500 and opened a clinic in the village. “Prashant Ray of West Bengal has been running this illegal clinic for the last four years. He was prescribing allopathy medicines to the people. He has been arrested and forwarded to court,” IIC of Deogarh Model police station Surendra Kumar Naik told the media.
He had also opened clinics in different rural areas of the Jharsuguda district, the sources added.
