New Delhi: Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter, Sharmistha Mukherjee tweeted on Wednesday and thanked everyone for their wishes and concern.
“May God do whatever is best for him,” she added.
She also recalled how during the same time last year her father was awarded Bharat Ratna. “Last year August 8 was one of the happiest days for me as my dad received Bharat Ratna,” she tweeted.
During the Bharat Ratna award ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hailed him as the “outstanding statesman of our times”.
The 84-year-old is “haemodynamically stable and on ventilator”, the Army Hospital in Delhi said in a statement. He underwent brain surgery to remove a clot and has also tested positive for COVID-19.
The Army hospital further said that former Congress leader has not shown any improvement and his health has worsened.
Meanwhile, in his ancestral place in Bengal’s Birbhum district, a 72-hour yajna is being carried out for his fast recovery.
