Bhubaneswar: Odisha again reported over 3000 COVID-19 cases, which took the total to 106561 on Tuesday.
Besides Khurda and Cuttack, Mayurbhanj district now has more active cases than Ganjam, which has been able to bend the curve with daily positivity rate at less than 2 per cent from 14.89 per cent at the beginning of August.
The surge in cases continued in Khurda with 666 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours followed by 312 in Cuttack and 215 in Mayurbhanj.
Mayurbhanj now has 1590 active cases while Khurda’s tally is 6790 and that of Cuttack 3248.
This North Odisha district reported less than 40 cases a day till August 12, when the number spiralled to 79 and subsequently shot up to a record 292 on August 30. The district reported over 200 cases on four days (August 22, August 28, August 30 and September 1) in the last fortnight.
Baripada, Khunta, Karanjia, Badasahi and Udala NAC in the district have over 100 active cases.
While the affected tally now stands at 3657, the virus has so far claimed five lives in Mayurbhanj.
