Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has assigned the Works department to take over the construction work of Kalahandi Medical College and Hospital at Bhawanipatna after cancelling the MoU signed with Vedanta Ltd.
In a letter to the Works department, the Health and Family Welfare department has stated that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Vedanta Ltd for construction of the 650-bed teaching hospital has been cancelled due to inordinate delay.
The Works department may execute the balance work for completion of the project, the letter said.
The government had signed the MoU for construction of the medical college and hospital at Bhawanipatna with an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore on March 27, 2018. The company was given the deadline of two years for completion of the college which would have MBBS seats.
