Meat, Liquor Trade Banned In Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura

Mathura: Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath imposed a blanket ban on liquor and meat sale in Mathura.

“The officers concerned are directed to make plans for the ban as well as for the engagement of people involved in such activities in some other trade,” the UP chief minister was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The chief minister made the announcement at the Krishnotsava 2021 programme in Lucknow.

Adityanath suggested that those engaged in the liquor and meat trade may resort to selling milk in order to revive Mathura’s glory that was known for producing huge quantities of animal milk.

The chief minister also offered prayers to Lord Krishna to get rid of the COVID-19 infection.

“Every effort will be made to develop Brij Bhumi and there will be no dearth of funds for this. We are looking at a blend of modern technology and the cultural and spiritual heritage for the development of the region,” he told the agency.

Cabinet ministers Laxmi Narain Chaudhary and Shrikant Sharma also graced the occasion.
