Mumbai: Zee founder and media baron Subhash Chandra took to his X handle on Friday to publicly apologise to actress Rhea Chakraborty after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) ruled out foul play in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
Reflecting on the media frenzy that followed Sushant’s death and admitting that Rhea was unfairly made an accused in public eye, Subhash wrote, “In Sushant Rajput murder case, CBI has filed closure report. I believe it is due to lack of credible evidence. No scope for ambiguity, hence it means no case is made out. In retrospect I feel that Rhea Chakraborty was made out an accused by media, led by Zee News through its editor and reporters (at that time).”
He added, “Others followed Zee News. As mentor of Zee News, advise them to be brave and apologize. I do apologize to Rhea, even with no involvement of mine. I am like ‘एक मुख रुद्राक्ष’ — बाहर और अंदर एक समान। Call spade a spade. Subhash.”

Almost five years after Sushant’s death under mysterious circumstances, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officially reaffirmed that it was a case of suicide in the closure report.
The 34-year-old actor was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020.
Rhea, who was the actor’s girlfriend, was accused of abetment to suicide and financial misappropriation of his funds by Sushant’s family.
She was wrongly vilified by the media and later arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with an alleged drug case.
Even after being granted bail, Rhea had become a target of online abuse, and had to endure setbacks in her career too.
