Berhampur: A medical student reportedly died of drowning in Rushikulya river of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday.
As per reports, the junior doctor, identified as Rakesh Kumr Padhi of Gosaninuagaon in Berhampur of the district, and his two friends had gone on a picnic to Sorada. During the picnic, they were moving along the banks of Huluhula outlet of the river when Rakesh slipped and fell into the water.
The medico was driven into deep water by the strong current in the river and went missing before anybody come to his help. His friends informed the police and Fire Brigade.
After a long search in the river, the Fire personnel found the body of Rakesh and brought it ashore. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
Rakesh, who was doing specialisation in MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur, was posted as junior doctor at community health centre (CHC) in Nuagaon.
