Mumbai: Pallavi Dempo, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) first female candidate from South Goa, and her husband Shrinivas Dempo have a net worth of around Rs 1,400 crore, according to the 119-page affidavit filed by her.
Pallavi, who filed her nomination on Tuesday, owns movable assets worth Rs 255.4 crore while the assets owned by her husband, the Dempo Group chairman, are worth Rs 994.8 crore. The BJP Lok Sabha candidate’s immovable assets are worth Rs 28.2 crore, while her husband’s is Rs 83.2 crore.
The couple owns a property in Dubai worth Rs 2.5 crore and an apartment in London whose market value is Rs 10 crore, besides having properties in Goa and other places in India, The Times of India reported.
The 49-year-old Pallavi, who also owns gold worth Rs 5.7 crore, filed an income tax return of Rs 10 crore in fiscal 2023 while her husband filed returns of Rs 11 crore.
Pallavi is the Executive Director of Dempo Industries Limited and a trustee at Dempo Charities Trust. She also looks after the media and real estate arms of Dempo Group.
Though Pallavi is new in politics, the Dempo family made a foray into politics more than six decades back. Vaikunthrao Sinai Dempo, the grand uncle of Srinivas, had contested Assembly elections in 1963 on a Congress ticket, Hindustan Times reported.
