Meet With Odisha Industries: Centre To Come Up With Mission To Develop Secondary Sector, Says Steel Minister
Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of Steel Ram Chandra Prasad Singh on Saturday stressed the contribution of secondary steel sector to rising demand of steel.
Speaking at an interactive session of a meeting with primary and secondary steel companies of the state in the city, Sigh said steel consumption will continue to increase due to the various programmes and schemes of the Central government such as Gatishakti Master Plan.
With increasing consumption, the contribution of secondary steel sector will be very high, he said adding that the Centre will come up with a mission to develop this sector.
He lauded the state government and the people of Odisha for taking lot of strides in development. Through institutions like the World Skill Centre, Bhubaneshwar, the government has rightly focused on skill development which is the need of the hour, he added.
The meeting saw participation of representatives of steel companies based in Odisha. They called for better environment for the industry especially on finance, logistics, environment and support for the small-scale industries in the sector.
The Steel Ministry officials, participating in the session, emphasised that the Centre has been taking all possible steps to address the concerns of the steel industry and welcomed the inputs on specific issues hindering the sector.
