Jajpur: At first glance, Monalisa Bhadra comes across as any normal homemaker in a nondescript village in Jajpur district. But she earns over Rs 1.5 lakh by uploading videos on YouTube.
This woman from Jahal village in Beruda panchayat uploads videos ranging from her riding a horse, ploughing with a tractor and even driving trucks and Volvo buses with ease.
Going by numbers, Monalisa’s videos are quite a sensation on social media. They are watched by over 7.7 million viewers across the world and she has 2,25 million subscribers to her YouTube channel.
Monalisa credits her husband, Badrinarayan, for introducing her to the YouTube fad of uploading videos.
Badrinarayan, who started a YouTube channel around May 2016, had first uploaded some footage of his wife feeding monkeys. The video went viral and proved a turning point for Monalisa.
Since then, Monalisa has been uploading videos of her indulging in hobbies, gaining all-round appreciation and accolades.
Her fellow villagers said her popularity on YouTube could be attributed to her love for animals. They said Monalisa is a nature lover and spends most of her time tending to her pets. Her house almost resembles a zoo, they added.
The villagers said they are proud of Monalisa’s fame as she has carved out a niche for her as well as for them and her relatives.
On her part, Monalisa says she has always been interested in doing something different and perhaps that has paid rich dividends.
So what next for this wonder woman? Flying a helicopter and driving a train and uploading the videos on YouTube are her future agenda, Monalisa replied.
