Mercedes Report: Speed Of Cyrus Mistry’s Car Was 100 Kmph 5 Secs Before Crash

Mumbai: Mercedes found in its investigation that the car involved in the death of former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry was travelling at 100 kilometres per hour, five seconds before the accident.

The luxury carmaker submitted its probe report on the deadly road accident to Palghar Police on Thursday.

Mercedes-Benz said that speed of the car was 100 kmph, and the speed came down to 89 kmph after Anahita applied the brakes and the collision took place, India Today reported.

The 54-year-old Cyrus was en route to Mumbai in a Mercedes-Benz car with three others when the driver, Anahita Pandole, lost control and rammed the car into a road divider on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National highway.

Both Cyrus and Jahangir Pandole, who died in the accident, were in the rear seats and didn’t have their belts on.

Anahita and Darius Pandole — who was sitting beside the driver — suffered injuries and were taken to a private hospital for treatment.

The carmakers said the accident-struck vehicle will be taken to the company showroom on September 12. A team from Hong Kong will be coming to inspect the car and give a detailed report.

If the experts from Hong Kong don’t get their visas in the next 48 hours, a team from India will carry out the detailed inspection.
