Bhubaneswar: Amid the prevailing cold wave conditions, the mercury dropped to 10 degree Celsius and below at nine places in Odisha in the last 24 hours, Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Sunday.
G Udayagiri was the coldest in the state at 6.4 degree Celsius followed by Sundargarh (7.4), Kirei (7.8), Phulbani (8.5), Daringbadi (8.5), Angul (9), Keonjhar (9), Rourkela (9.4) and Jharsuguda (10).
Dense fog was also seen at Angul this morning. Baripada, Bhawanipatna and Keonjhar also experienced shallow to moderate fog.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 15.1 and 14.5 degree Celsius, respectively, 0.9 and 0.3 degrees below normal.
Notably, the weather agency had predicted cold wave conditions at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh and Angul till 8.30 am on Sunday. While dry weather will prevail across the state from January 28, the MeT office has also forecast light rain at some places from January 31.
The night temperature is also likely to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius after 24 hours.
