Bhubaneswar: With winter slowly setting in, temperature has started falling across Odisha. The minimum temperature dropped to 15 degree Celsius or below in at least nine places of the state with people experiencing winter chill.
According to regional centre of India Metorological Department (IMD) here, there was an appreciable fall in minimum temperature (night temperature) at many places in south coastal Odisha and at one or two places in south interior Odisha.
Kandhamal remained the coldest in the state as G Udayagiri in the district recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5 degree Celsius. while Semiliguda in Koraput district recorded the 11.1 degree Celsius.
The other places that recorded minimum temperature of below 15°C are Koraput (11.6), Keonjhar (12.8), Phulbani (13), Daringbadi (13), Kirei (13.7), Bhawanipatna and Nabarangpur (15).
In the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the mercury stood at 20°C and 19.8°C respectively.
Odisha is experiencing a drop in temperatures as cold and dry winds are entering the state from the north and north-western directions.
The regional meteorological department predicts a further drop in temperature by two to three degree Celsius in the next two days.
Dense fog has also be witnessed at several places. Similipal, in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, has recorded temperature at eight degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, the state is likely to experience rain under the impact of a possible formation of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal by November 14. It is likely to take the form of a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal by November 15, sources said.
