Mercury To Shoot Up In Odisha From Feb 22; Day Temp May Touch 38°C
Bhubaneswar: While the IMD has forecast a gradual rise in night temperature by 3-4 degree Celsius over the next 3 days, Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) director Sarat Sahu on Wednesday said that the mercury will hover between 16 and 18 degree Celsius in coastal Odisha till February 18.
The minimum temperature in interior districts of the state will vary from 11-13 degree Celsius, he said, adding that the day temperature will go up to 35 degree Celsius till February 20. “The maximum temperature will rise sharply from February 21-22 and touch 37 degree Celsius to 38 degree Celsius. The difference in the day and night temperatures will decrease gradually from February 20,” said the former director of the Regional Meteorological Science Centre here.
Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar and Jajpur may experience a few spells of thunderstorm with rain between February 16 and February 18, he added.
Notably, the MeT office has forecast dense fog for 11 districts of Odisha during the next two days.

In its monthly outlook for February, the IMD indicated that the entire state will experience above normal daytime temperature this month. The probability of coastal districts being more affected is high.
This rise in temperature is being attributed to weak La Nina conditions and no significant rainfall activity.
