Mercury May Soar Past 40°C In Odisha This Week; Thunderstorm, Rain Alert For 5 Dists Till 5PM
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain warning for some parts of Rayagada, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj and Nuapada till 5 pm on Monday.
According to the midday bulletin, light rain or thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts till Tuesday morning. Dry weather will prevail thereafter till March 30 with light rain or thundershower at one or two places in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar on March 31.
The weather agency has also forecast a gradual rise in the day temperature by 2-4 degree Celsius during the next 3 days. The mercury is likely to soar past 40 degree Celsius in the state by March 29. The night temperature may also shoot up by 2-3 degrees in next 2-3 days, it added.
On Sunday, Balangir had recorded the highest temperature of 38.5 degree Celsius followed by Titlagarh in the same district at 38.2 degree Celsius and Malkangiri at 38 degree Celsius. While Nayagarh and Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district recorded 37 degree Celsius, the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered 35.3 and 34.6 degree Celsius, respectively.
